Review: Mama Jess Organic Pasta Sauces

Ever wish you could pick up a really good quality, organic, and gluten-free pasta sauce at the store?  Maybe you’re in a pinch or headed away for the weekend and need some staples to keep your family happy.  Or maybe you’re not big into planning and tend to purchase products such as pasta sauce.  Well, I’ve got some great news for you…there’s a new ‘kid’ on the block that probably one of the best bottled pasta sauces on the market.

That ‘kid’ is Mama Jess and she’s got a killer nose for incredible taste, high standards for ingredient quality and the intention to give your family the very best Italian experience…all gluten-free, vegan, organic, no sugar added, and no preservatives in sight.

Before you say “Come on, Jen.  This sounds too good to be true.”  I want to stop you.  Enjoying bottled tomato sauce is incredibly difficult for me because most of it tastes, well, bottled and artificial.  I grew up in a traditional Italian home with family that’s continued the process of making everything from scratch including pasta sauce.  So generally, even the thought of eating a jarred sauce isn’t appealing.

Then BAM! — Mama Jess knocked my taste-bud socks off!  I had the pleasure to sit down with her and understand that her passion for food reaches beyond just a dream of having a food product company.  The mission is to bring the best, wholesome, real ingredients into your kitchen and experience the pleasure of everyone’s simultaneous enjoyment in eating.

That’s a mission that I can fully support on top of the fact that Mama Jess’s sauces are actually really good.  If a pasta sauce snob like myself can actually acknowledge how darn good these sauces are, then even the most casual eater will love these.  I’ve had the pleasure of tasting all three varieties – Garden Good (all veggies), Bien Good (a spicy blend that can also be used for some Mexican dishes), and Bean Good (a sauce thickened with beans for added fiber & protein) – and each one, though definitely distinct, is excellent.

Mama Jess has truly outdone herself and I just had to share with all of you just how wonderful her sauce line is.  Though products are currently sold in markets in the mid-west, you can purchase jars online through Abe’s Market.  And I’m sure if you put in a good word for Mama Jess, she’ll be popping up in a store near you in no time!
